With most routines being predominately bodyweight, the Workout Anywhere crew has applied a few transportable devices for unlimited exercise potential. Thanks to this amazing combination, one can literally perform any gym exercise without weights.
Don’t gasp. If you’re a frequent gym goer and cannot go without your hour to two hour long routines, cycling from machine to machine. That’s okay and Workout Anywhere is probably not for you. However, we do have a good portion of members turning on Workout Anywhere at the gym. Essentially, our program is the ultimate online training experience and will make your workout time more efficient and effective no matter where you are.
Enough about that. Below are our favorite pieces of Workout Anywhere exercise equipment. Some can be made, purchased at major retailers or online through our quick and easy links.

Workout Anywhere’s Equipment Rules:
- Equipment must be transportable (for all Workout Anywhere programs other than the home strength and mass series). Free weights are great (dumbbells, kettlebells, etc.) but are not transportable.
- Equipment must be affordable. We only recommend equipment that is high quality, yet completely affordable. Generally, the total to our Workout Anywhere equipment recommendations totals $60-$80. This literally provides an entire Workout Anywhere gym, for life. If one’s goal is becoming a better athlete, improving overall fitness and burning body fat, then there is no need for an expensive piece of machinery that provides limited exercise variety. Most machines cost between $500 – $8,000 and only provide a few uses.
- Equipment must be highly effective. The equipment recommended adds a nearly unlimited array to our home workout, traveling workout and anywhere workout routines. We can literally scale workouts for the true beginners, all the way to the most advanced person through our training expertise and vast array of exercise variations.
What is Workout Anywhere approved equipment?
Various Intensity Levels of Resistance Band
Resistance bands are the most transportable equipment aid and have numerous intensity levels for all athletes. One can either find resistance bands at their near by sporting goods store, Target, Wal-Mart.
This is the Gold’s Gym variety (several intensity levels included) for only $14.77. However, there are plenty of good options like the link below.
Suspension Trainer/ Body Weight Trainer
This piece of equipment can replace an entire weight room if used correctly. As well, the suspension trainer can magnify one’s body weight for the most advanced exercise, or decrease one’s mass for true beginners. Over the next several years, we will be using this product to do hundreds of exercises and variations.
Even better, this piece of Workout Anywhere equipment can be wedged between a door jam, wrapped around a pole/tree and hung just about anywhere. Then put it back in the small bag it comes in and it’s ready to go.
Like the resistance bands, suspension trainers/ body weight trainers can be found at most sporting goods stores, Target, Wal-Mart or our online store. As well, for the crafty “do it yourselfers” check out the video below to make your own suspension trainer (cost roughly $10-$15 to make one).
We know TRX is the most popular brand, but honestly there are plenty of affordable suspension trainers made with the same materials.
Non-Bouncing Medicine Ball
This might be a little harder to travel with (due to which weight one you purchase) but it is small enough to fit into a travel bag, duffle bag or carryon (we did it for the shoot of our latest videos in the summer of 2013). We even found this incredible, sand filled, non-bouncing medicine ball at T.J. Maxx. Again, one can find these just about anywhere, but check out our preferences in our online store.
This is a recent addition and not mandatory, but it will be in integral part of our Anywhere Conditioning Workouts (exercises can be performed without a jump rope, or members can do some of our alternative drills). Jump roping adds a dynamic conditioning element great for just that, strengthening ankles, calves, shins and burning excess calories.

Sure a mat is not necessary, but the added comfort becomes priceless when doing floor exercises, core drills and warm-up/cool down drills. Technically, a rolled up workout mat or a rolled up towel will suffice for a basic foam rolling session. However, the harder and more dense the foam roller is, the better it will be for myofascial release and releasing trigger points, inflammation and promoting enhanced circulation for better recovery. Adding the foam roller to our cool down methods will be a true game changer with the Workout Anywhere training system.
